Here is where the painting stage really starts for me. I have the tendency to use many colouring layers placed on top of the line work layers. There are numerous different painting techniques; some artists like to work with just one layer throughout. Having that said, this technique is where I feel the most comfortable with. An added plus is the client having the luxury to receive an illustration defined by strategic layers. This enables a much more convenient way for the client to optimize the printing process. Notice that I work from dark to light, meaning I use increasingly lighter colours on top of each other.
